Combating Business Displacement: NYC Rezonings

February 23, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a workshop to learn about public land in your community and how this can be leveraged in rezonings. This workshop is being facilitated by Banana Kelly, the Urban Justice Center, and the Association for Housing and Neighborhood Development.

Free food and Live Spanish Translation available. To RSVP email Anna Burnham at aburnham@bkcianyc.org or call 718-328-1064 ext 218. Can’t attend this date? The workshop will be offered again so email Anna for more information!

Workshop Description:

When it comes to rights and protections, commercial tenants have few resources available outside of their lease. As part of a broader effort to support and protect small businesses, United for Small Business NYC successfully pushed for the passage of legislation that allows commercial tenants who have been harassed by their landlords to take them to court. It’s a step in the right direction, and more needs to happen. Come learn about how businesses can protect themselves and what other steps can be taken to empower neighborhood commercial tenants.
